Christa McAuliffe Elementary School
Located: Colorado Springs, CO
A geothermal system was installed in 2001 for the Colorado Springs School District 11 Maintenance Facility. After an extensive study of the building, the energy savings for the property was at 52% per year. With that information the school district decided to make all new schools in the district geothermal as well as several retro-fits. The Christa McAuliffe Elementary School is one of the first new schools to incorporate geothermal using a new bond that accounts for geothermal.
