Edison School
Located: Edison, CO
Square Feet: 20,000
Loop Type: Vertical Bore Holes
The Edison School, built 1929,
still used a coal fire boiler for heat and window mounted
air conditioning units for cooling. After performing soil
conductivity tests and performing a test well, it was determined
that a vertical well system will provide the best overall
heating and cooling performance at the least cost for Edison
School. Twenty vertical
wells were drilled to a depth of 300 ft. Twenty-five heat
pumps were installed throughout the Edison School to give
individual heating and cooling comfort control to all affected
rooms. This new system extracts heat from the earth
loop during winter months and rejects heat to the earth loop
system during cooling periods. The best thing...
no coal dust... and individual comfort control.
